Five Places to Visit in Milan

Milan is the second largest city in the country of Italy and is the capital of Lombardy. The city was founded by the Insubres a type of Celtic people and the city was later conquered by the Romans and thus it become the capital of the Western Roman Empire at that time. The city has many important museums, theatres and landmarks that includes the Milan Cathedral and Santa Maria delle Grazie, decorated with some of Leonardo da Vinci paintings, the city of Milan is very beautiful and it attracts more than 2 million annual visitors.

1. Pinacoteca di Brera – This place is a world class museum and exhibits some of Italy's most important art collections and one of the foremost collections of Italian paintings. The museum shows some of the masterpiece and art Icon like "the Kiss" by Francesco Hayez, the "Lamentation of Christ" by Mantegna, the "Supper at Emmaus" and a lot more the full ticket costs € 10.00.

2. Pinacoteca Ambrosiana – This place is a historical library that houses the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana art gallery. This place is a must see for art lovers because the place shows the world famous "Basket of fruits" of Caravaggio, along with the "Musician" by Leonardo da Vinci and the preparatory drawing of the School of Athens by Raphael. A must see.

3. The Duomo – The cathedral is located in in Duomo Square and it is the city’s main cathedral, a massive late Gothic church that was started in 1386 in white marble, If you visit the cathedral surely don't miss the chance to climb up onto the roof and enjoy the majestic views of the city between the spires. A very beautiful cathedral to see and gaze upon.

4. Santa Maria delle Grazie – This church houses the famous Last Supper that was painted by Leonardo da Vinci. The Last Supper is arguably the lifetime masterpiece of the artist and his most influential work artistically. It is best to reserve tickets a few months before the visit. To visit the place you must make a reservation.

5. Cimitero Monumentale – This is Milan's old cemetery in Art Nouveau/Liberty style and it
is definitely a must see. It has a 250000 square meters of monumental tombs and sculpture that makes it the biggest Art Nouveau museum in the World. It is absolutely one of the most beautiful Cemeteries in the world because it is filled with lavish sculptures, impressive mausoleums and monuments.
