Ten Places to Visit in Venice

Venice is a city that is located in the northeastern part of Italy in a group of 118 small islands that is separated by canals and connected by bridges. Venice is known for the beauty of its setting and its wonderful architecture and artworks. The whole city is listed as a World Heritage Site, along with its many beautiful lagoons. The city of Venice is one of the loveliest and interesting places in the word, with its rich history, beautiful sceneries and hypnotizing lagoons making it one of the most visited city in Europe. 1. Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale) – They offer guided tour named Secret Itinerary which cost €20, the tour will let you see the part of the palace where the city's administration worked, as well as the Casanova's jail and the five hundred year old roof structure.

2. Bell tower of St. Mark (Campanile di San Marco) - The current tower dates from 1912 and it is an exact replica of the previous tower that collapsed in 1902. The tower offers a great view of the city and the lagoon. The entrance to the tower cost €8.

3. Clock Tower (Torre dell'Orologio) – The tower has been closed for restoration for many years and the restored astronomical clock is now visible. The guided tour offers a very fascinating tour of the clock mechanism (and rooftop bell); if you want a guided tour you need be booked in advance.

4. Scuola Grande di San Rocco - This guild house is an exquisite example of Manierist art in its best and is the masterpiece of Tintoretto. A comfortable admiration of the detailed ceiling mirrors are offered to the place’s visitors.

5. San Giacomo di Rialto – The church was built around 421 and can possibly be the oldest church in the city of Venice. The church is most recognized for its 15th century clock that is above the entrance of the church. The church is also recognizable for its red pillars and beautiful gold accents around the church itself. A very beautiful church and a must see for architecture geeks.

6. San Giovanni e Paolo – The church is a fine and huge Dominican church with the tombs of many Doges. The church shares its piazza with the fine Renaissance facade of the Scuola San Marco and an equestrian statue of the mercenary (condottiere) captain Colleone.

7. Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari – This is a big church with fine monuments and paintings, among which the famous 'Assunta' by Titian. The Regular tickets costs €3,00

8. Correr Museum – The museum exhibits a lot of interesting collection of globes, starting from the 16th century. The place also has an only library hall, an archeological museum of Roman antiques and an important picture gallery. The admission fee in the museum costs €14 and can reduce €8. 9. La Fenice Theater (Teatro La Fenice) - Visit this historic theater with an audio guide that has very good explanations in several languages. The theater is an identical reconstruction because it was rebuilt in 2003 because the previous theater building burned down in 1996. The admission to the place costs €7.

10. San Simeone Piccolo – This church was the last church built in Venice. The church is located across from the Grand Canal in front of Santa Lucia Train station. One of the things that it is recognized for is the fact that they celebrate Tridentine Mass on Sundays. A wonderful church that you can visit to pray or just wander around.
